I normally do not go in for "fluff content." However, given how bad the news has been on so many different dimensions, I have to confess that I could not resist looking at "Ten weird and wonderful images of our world in 2013" on the BBC - Future Web site. One image, in particular, caught my attention:

As far as I am concerned, the only way to look at this photograph of a pair of mudskippers is while listening to your favorite recording of "O soave fanciulla!"
