While there is no shortage of blame to be meted out over the fiasco in Iraq, I am glad to see that someone has decided to go after Blackwater, if not the entire role that independent contractors played in this mess. Lisa Meyers, Amna Nawaz and the NBC News Investigative Unit just filed a report on MSNBC.com about the testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee by family members of the victims massacred in Fallujah in May of 2004. Dennis Kucinich cut straight to the chase by addressing the question of whether or not Blackwater put the profit motive ahead of the safety of its personnel. After yesterday's depressing news of the friendly fire video (buried on page A7 of the San Francisco Chronicle this morning, by the way), it would seem that at least some of the chickens are finally coming home to roots. I just hope that the American public is not so overwhelmed with exasperation that they end up bailing on the 2008 electoral process!
