According to CNET News.com Eric Schmidt is in Washington again. I do not know if he was there for a preemptive strike for this week's Chutzpah of the Week award. However, the ghost of his October visit, which I recently cited, seems to keep going and going with the persistence of the little pink bunny. In other words he is sounding off about governance again, no better informed than he was the last time, but this time to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. On the other hand what word other than chutzpah would describe a CEO lecturing an "endowment for international peace" when the ink of The Charlotte Observer is barely dry on their account of the bully tactics that Google engaged in the name of "negotiation?" Actually, if we are to believe Anne Broache, who filed the CNET News.com story, "lecturing" may be too polite a description of "a meandering, conversational speech that lasted about 30 minutes." Can anyone remember the jokes about Schmidt being "the designated grown-up" at Google? It looks like the learning curve is going in the wrong direction for the wrong people; or, as a former colleague of mine put it, "There is such a thing as negative information!"
