Last month the Community Music Center (CMC) began its annual series of Concert with Conversation events with a visit from French-Canadian pianist Marc-André Hamelin. Details for the remaining events in the series for the 2016–2017 season have now been announced. Like the first, they all will take place on Fridays at 6 p.m. and last about an hour. Specific dates and the visiting artists are as follows:
November 18: jazz pianist Arturo O’Farrill, son of Afro-Cuban Jazz master Chico O’Farrill
February 24: a return visit from classical guitarist David Russell
March 10: jazz trumpeter Sean Jones, currently Jazz-Artist-in-Residence with San Francisco Performance (SFP)
May 19: the members of the Alexander String Quartet, Ensemble-in-Residence with SFP since 1989
All the events in this series will be free and open to the general public. They will take place in the CMC Concert Hall, which is located at 544 Capp Street, between Mission Street and South Van Ness Avenue and between 20th Street and 21st Street. These tend to be popular events, so early arrival is encouraged.
